5 Ways To Add Turmeric To Your Beauty Routine

"Eat your beauty." Sounds like something grandma would say before she force fed us overcooked broccoli. But the green beauty industry feels the same- ingredients in beauty products should be good enough to eat. With an increased desire for transparency in food labeling, came the need to see more transparency in ingredients in the beauty aisles. A good move for us all! The ability to be "barefaced" if you will, in beauty means that most of the ingredients we use when formulating products will be natural, as in not chemically derived, and so you'll find more brands that contain ingredients you might find in the whole foods aisle of your supermarket. Beauty food inside, beauty food outside.
One of the most effective among the powerhouse ingredients found in nature is turmeric. Circumin, the primary active constituent of the turmeric rhizome, has been credited as the compound that gives this root its power, as it plays a protective role in healing the body and skin. If you're familiar with turmeric, you've probably heard about its myriad benefits: anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antiseptic, improves digestion, improves psoriasis and eczema...the list goes on. You can thank circumin for being both effective and delicious. Here are some ways to boost your beauty routine with turmeric, both inside and out.

Turmeric Rosemary Mint Lemonade

Don't be fooled into thinking this lemonade is just a delicious drink. The combination of turmeric and ginger is a duo that helps to soothe gastro intestinal pains and ease digestion. The addition of rosemary and mint is calming to the senses (and gut), and we bet a warm winter version would make for a yummy tea.

Glow Inner Beauty Powder

This powdered supplement from The Beauty Chef packs a whopping 23 ingredients that boost your inner glow, one being turmeric. Given an ingredient list like mung beans, lentils, ginger, and quinoa, we see a lot of reasons, at least 22 more, why this powder can give you that coveted glow from the inside out.

Skin Is In Brightening Body Serum

We can tout the beauty of turmeric after working with this ingredient for months before we launched Skin Is In. We used turmeric CO2 extract for its higher concentration of circumin, and boosted Skin Is In with essential oils of lime, lemon, grapefruit, and bergamot. Not only does this serum soothe dry skin with its base of rice bran and hazelnut oils, it also works to gently brighten skin over time.
