It feels like I've been shaving with a safety razor forever. Gone are the days of itchy skin, ingrown hairs, and razor burn so bad it prevented me from shaving for a week after. Try again. Epic razor burn fail again. When I ordered our first sample for Oui Shave, I had no idea that it would change my life.
You think I jest, but some of you reading this know exactly what I'm talking about. You shave, it burns, you get ingrown hairs (painful at worst, pesky at best), and after a hard fought battle with said ingrown hairs you're left with hyper pigmentation. Juusssst in time for bikini season. Dreamy.
Little had I known that this beautiful style of razor, called a safety razor for the extended bar that keeps the blade away from your skin, actually worked like a charm. Oh, and it lasts forever. Could it get better? I learned that women actually began shaving with this razor in the 1950's. The advent of plastics manufacturing meant that shave brands now had access to cheaper materials and could boost the price of refill razor blades, which of course had to be purchased more often than the handle itself. Bingo! Let's convince women that 5 blade razors are the best, smoothest shave a girl could ask for.
It has been my mission to teach women the art of a better shave since Oui Shave launched in late 2014, and it has been my pleasure to watch you toss your plastic razors and embrace your truly smooth skin- free of toxic ingredients no less. This article from Refinery 29 was a favorite, as the editor, Alix, took an in-depth look at how women have been convinced that more is better when shaving, when in fact more blades lead to irritation. In this case, less is much, much more. Let's hear it for the single blade!
